If you would like to see me, but need to use your insurance there are other options. Check to see if you have out of network benefits through your insurance company. If so you can submit claims for reimbursement. I can provide you all the information they will need to process your claim.

If you do plan on using your insurance, please understand your benefits as you may need prior authorization before services are rendered. You also need to understand what the client responsibility is regarding copays or coinsurance.

Also know that insurance requires a diagnosis and must demonstrate medical necessity. You are under no obligations to use your insurance. Not all counseling issues meet medical necessity.

If none of the options listed above are good for you, what would you say if I told you some counseling may be 100% NO COST to  you?

Some employers offer employee assistance programs or EAP. These programs generally offer limited services at no cost to you. The services in some cases include counseling, financial advise, or even legal advise.

For counseling, EAP is designed to meet immediate needs or new and unforseen issues that can be affectively treated through a limited number of sessions. Their purpose is to provide brief, solution focused counseling that addresses the immediate problem,

EAP is not insurance. It is often a benefit that is paid for by your employer. Although you may have a specific insurance carrier like BlueCross for example, EAP is often handled by a completely different third party vendor. Make sure that you call the phone number for behavioral health on the back of your insurance card and ask who the EAP carrier is. You can get this information from your employer's Human Resource Department. Most EAP plans will require you to have an authorization number before services can be rendered.

If you continue to need counseling after your EAP benefit is exhausted, you would then use your behavioral health plan through your employer's insurance carrier
